UDS Co-FOunder, Kelvin Fomba, Inducted as Board chair for Greater Monrovia District #1B
On November 28, 2025, Kelvin Fomba (UDS Co-Founder & Director) was inducted as the board chair for Greater Monrovia District (GMD) #1B in Liberia. The term is two years and renewable if he wants to continue. Kelvin and seven other members will serve on this inaugural board to develop its platform for a better educational system in the district.
Ayo Dee Richardson (UDS Vice Principal & Teacher), who was attending the ceremony, posted on social media:
“It’s often stated to give the man his flowers when he’s still alive. You are indeed a great and good person to work with. I’m a living witness to what I saw and heard today of the impacts you have made. 82 (out of 85) schools had chosen and elected you to serve as the chairman of the board. This was approved by Moses W. Joe, the DEO (District Education Officer) of the Ministry of Education in Liberia. Congratulations, Mr. Fomba, with all due respect to your new office.”

Kelvin, Myrtle S. Toe (UDS Deputy Director), and their team work tirelessly to be the example for other schools. Over a week ago, Myrtle attended a district meeting at the DEO’s office. During Mr. Moses W. Joe’s presentation, he displayed UDS lesson plans and explained our vocational training program as a model for other schools. She left that meeting with great pride, knowing that our small school is making a difference.
