Discipline, Patience, and Belief: The Impact of Uniting Distant Stars
Benetta Dahn is a member of Uniting Distant Stars Academy’s inaugural 12th‑grade class, a group whose journey reflects the heart of our school. In about two months, they will complete their secondary education with us. We value hearing directly from our students because their voices best reflect our impact as a humble, community-driven school committed to helping young people reclaim their value, purpose, and confidence. She posted the following on her Facebook on April 23, 2026:
Today I’m overwhelmed, and I just have to appreciate my school, Name: Uniting Distant Stars.
We walked through those gates as strangers, different hometowns, different struggles, different dreams. We were scattered light, each shining alone. But this school pulled us together and made us a constellation.
I’m especially grateful to Miss Heather, Sis Myrtle, and Brother Kelvin. Thank you for your hard work, your discipline, and your refusal to let us slip. You pushed us to be straight up when we wanted to cut corners. You corrected us with love, guided us with patience, and believed in us even on days we didn’t believe in ourselves. The values you drilled into us are things no textbook could teach.
Because of this school, and because of you three, we leave here stronger, sharper, and standing tall. You didn’t just educate us you shaped us.
All thanks to y'all!!
Hello, World!
Benetta embodies the purpose of Uniting Distant Stars: partnering with Liberians to build pathways to sustainable futures. Through education grounded in discipline, care, and high expectations, we walk alongside students as they prepare not only for graduation, but for meaningful roles within their communities. This work is strengthened through partnership with students, families, and donors who believe in long‑term transformation through training, education, and shared resources. Together, we are helping young people move forward with confidence and the tools needed to contribute to a stronger future for Liberia.
