A Student Voice That Reflects Who We Are

At Uniting Distant Stars (UDS), our greatest pride is not only in what we teach, but in who our students become. Today, we are honored to share a powerful reflection from one of our own, Jennes M. D. Mulbah, a member of our inaugural 12th-grade class preparing for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) beginning June 1.

Make it stand out

Jennes Mulbah shared this image designed by Manfred “Fred” Gibson Jr. (UDS computer teacher) on her Facebook page. She wanted to inspire her fellow students as they prepare to take their national exams on June 1, 2026.

In the upper left corner under the UDS name, she has four words, "Unite - Discover - Shine - Achieve” and then four symbols representing left to right: "Academic Excellence, Technology Integration, Leadership & Character, and Global Citizenship.

On the right, she addresses her fellow students and lists four other symbols, from top to bottom: Stay Focused: You've worked hard; Stay Calm: You've got this; Stay Confident: Your best is enough. & Finish Strong: Mark yourself proud

She ends this image with "Your Future is Bright."

Jennes captured the heart of the UDS experience in these words:

“My school is the best. Proud to be a student of the Uniting Distant Stars. We started as distant stars—different homes, same school. It united us.”

This is exactly why UDS exists—to bring together young people from diverse backgrounds and cultivate unity, growth, and purpose.

As our students step into this important examination season, we are inspired by their confidence and preparation:

“WASSCE is here. Good luck to me and every candidate. We read, we prayed, we’re ready.”

Jennes also reminds us that even the smallest details—like a uniform—carry deep meaning:

“Yellow shirt = my light to shine. Navy blue = my calm and depth. Tie = our unity… School badge = my identity. I belong here. Black shoes = keep me grounded.”

At UDS, education goes beyond academics. It’s about identity, belonging, and building character. And as Jennes so powerfully shared:

“One test doesn’t define us. This school already tested our character, friendship, and strength. We passed.”

To our entire inaugural Class of 2026: we see your hard work, your resilience, and your growth. You carry with you the spirit of UDS—courage, unity, and excellence.

And when the journey reaches its next chapter, Jennes leaves us with words that truly define the legacy of a UDS student:

“When I fold this uniform, it means: I was here. I grew. I conquered.”

We couldn’t be more proud.

Go forward and make your stars proud. We are behind you every step of the way.

Jennes’ full unedited text

My school is the best proud to be a student of the uniting distant stars.

We started as distant stars. Different homes, same school. It united us.

WASSCE is here. Good luck to me and every candidate. We read, we prayed, we’re ready.

This uniform means something:

  • *Yellow shirt = my light to shine.

  • *Navy blue= my calm and depth.

  • *Tie = our unity. Different colors, one knot.

  • *School badge= my identity. I belong here.

  • *Black shoes = keep me grounded.

One test doesn’t define us. This school already tested our character, friendship, and strength. We passed.

Let’s go make our stars proud ,When I fold this uniform, it means: I was here. I grew. I conquered.
