Celebrating Unity and Spirit at UDS’s 8th Gala Day
On September 19, 2026, UDS proudly hosted its 8th Gala Day—an event filled with excitement, teamwork, and school spirit. Despite heavy rain in the morning, the celebration carried on with enthusiasm, showing the resilience and joy of the students, staff, and families involved.
The day was organized around four color-themed houses, each representing a core value: Red for strength, Blue for integrity, Green for growth, and Yellow for creativity. Students were assigned to these houses through a raffle, emphasizing inclusivity and unity—everyone was welcomed, and no distinctions were made beyond celebrating together.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities. Students competed in track races, including the 50m, 100m, and 200m rallies, tested their focus in a marble-to-basket challenge, and showed teamwork during an energetic tug-of-war competition. Each activity contributed points toward the final house rankings, encouraging both friendly competition and collaboration.
Preparation for the gala reflected a strong sense of community. Parents contributed $1,000 Liberian Dollars ($5 USD) to provide custom shirts featuring the UDS logo, the 8th Gala Day theme, and each student’s house color. Students also played an active role by bringing and sharing food, water, and decorations for their canopies—turning creativity and teamwork into a friendly contest of their own.
Even as rain continued into the day, families showed up in support, enjoying the festivities and cheering on the students. The weather did little to dampen the spirits—by midday, as the rain eased into a drizzle, the games went on, and the joy was unmistakable.
At the end of the day, the results highlighted the competitive energy of the event: Yellow and Blue houses tied for first place, followed by Red in second and Green in third. More importantly, the gala reinforced values of unity, participation, and shared celebration.
“Today was actually a day to remember.”
UDS’s 8th Gala Day was not just about winning—it was about coming together, embracing diversity, and creating lasting memories through teamwork and joy.
