Celebrating Achievement and New Beginnings: UDS K2 Academic Graduation 2026

July 4, 2026 was a day of pride, celebration, and accomplishment at the Uniting Distant Stars Academy (UDSA) School as students, parents, teachers, and community members gathered to honor the achievements of our academic students during the annual graduation program.

This year's ceremony was especially meaningful as we celebrated our Kindergarten 2 (K2) graduates while also recognizing the accomplishments of our 6th and 9th grade students, who received certificates of completion following the Ministry of Education's decision to discontinue graduations for those grade levels.

A Student-Led Celebration

One of the highlights of the event was the leadership demonstrated by our academic students, who successfully conducted the program from start to finish.

The ceremony began with an Invocation by Anthony Niare (photos below), who offered words of prayer and gratitude, asking for continued blessings upon the students, families, teachers, and the UDS community.

The ceremony opened with a warm and heartfelt Welcome Statement delivered by K2 student Asha Sangali (photo below), who greeted guests and helped set the tone for the celebration. Following the welcome, Isaac Woryonwon (photo below) officially gave the Introduction of the Occasion, providing an overview of the significance of the day and the achievements being celebrated.

The audience was inspired by the confident Graduation Speech presented by K2 student Adullah Kamara (photo below), who spoke on behalf of the graduating class and shared words of gratitude and hope for the future.

Serving as Master of Ceremonies (MC) was Yamah Morluev (photo below standing by teacher Dee “Ayo” Richardson), who skillfully guided the program through each segment, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience.. Yamah also delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to everyone whose contributions made the event possible.

Honoring Our Graduates

The K2 graduates proudly marched into the ceremony wearing their beautiful blue caps and gowns accented with black sashes, symbolizing their successful completion of kindergarten and their readiness to begin the next chapter of their educational journey.

Meanwhile, the 6th and 9th grade students, dressed neatly in their school uniforms, were recognized with certificates celebrating their academic progress and dedication. Although formal graduations for these grades have been discontinued, UDS remains committed to acknowledging and celebrating student achievement at every level.

A special congratulations goes to Fatumata Diallo (photo below), who was named Dux of the K2 Class in recognition of her outstanding academic performance and commitment to excellence.

We also recognize Laura Saway (photo below), the dedicated K2 Teacher and Class Sponsor, whose guidance, patience, and encouragement helped prepare the graduates for this important milestone.

Inspiring Words from the Guest Speaker

The event was honored by the presence of Kelvin Fomba, UDS Co-Founder and Director, who served as the Guest Speaker.

In his remarks, Kelvin expressed sincere appreciation to parents for their continued partnership with UDS. He emphasized that while the ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of the students, it was equally a celebration of the sacrifices, dedication, and support provided by parents and guardians throughout the school year.

Kelvin also addressed the realities of the current economic climate, noting that families and communities must continue moving forward rather than expecting prices and economic conditions to return to what they once were. He encouraged parents to focus on building new opportunities and strengthening their skills to adapt to today's challenges.

As part of that commitment to empowering families, Kelvin announced that parents have the opportunity to develop additional skills through UDS vocational programs by taking advantage of a 50% scholarship to learn a trade at UDS. He shared this initiative as a practical way for parents to invest in their futures and increase their earning potential.

In recognition of the economic pressures families are facing, Kelvin also announced that UDS tuition rates will remain at the same level as last year, reinforcing the school's commitment to making quality education accessible for students and families.

Appreciation and Gratitude

Events like these are only possible because of the efforts of many dedicated individuals. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all parents, teachers, staff members, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the graduation ceremony.

A special thank you goes to Manfred "Fred" Gibson, Jr. for generously capturing the day's memories through photographs and videos and for helping provide details that contributed to documenting this memorable occasion. His efforts ensure that students and families will be able to look back on this milestone with pride for years to come.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate the accomplishments of the K2 graduates and recognize the achievements of our 6th and 9th grade students, we are reminded that each educational milestone represents hard work, perseverance, and hope for the future.

This year's graduation ceremony is particularly significant as UDS continues to expand its academic offerings and create new opportunities for students. We are excited to announce that the school's first-ever 12th Grade Graduation Ceremony will be held following the release of students' results from the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This historic milestone will mark the graduation of the inaugural UDS senior class and represent another important chapter in the growth and success of our school.

Congratulations to all of our graduates and certificate recipients. We are proud of your achievements and look forward to watching you continue to grow, learn, and succeed.
